Correct filter selection - Which filter cartridge is the right one? Those who have the choice are often spoiled for choice.

It is not uncommon for us to be asked which filter cartridge would actually be the right one.

In principle, all of the following Carbonit filter cartridges fit into all Carbonit Sanuno, Vario and DUO filter housings due to their design. But the choice of the right carbonit filter cartridge is in fact decisive for the optimal drinking water quality. Carbonit filter cartridges differ from other available filter cartridges in particular by two crucial filter properties.

On the one hand, the sieving effect of the filter cartridge creates purity for undissolved substances such as suspended matter, sediments, germs and bacteria. This "sieve" holds back all particles and contaminants via the respective size of the pore openings (similar to a sieve) and is measured in nanometers (nm).

On the other hand, dissolved pollutants (polar pesticides, agricultural residues, chlorine, drug residues and much more) are removed by the adsorption effect of the activated carbon. The ability to adsorb these pollutants is becoming increasingly important due to increasing environmental pollution. It is called adsorptive retention. The adsorptive retention rate (AAR) indicates how high the retention is compared to the Carbonit NFP Premium filter cartridge.

Conclusion:

The standard filter cartridge Carbonit NFP Premium is the optimal combination of sieve effect and adsorption effect and ideally suited to filter drinking water. Their high proportion of activated carbon and the low water flow ensure that all dissolved pollutants are removed safely. As a rule, the Carbonit NFP Premium filter cartridge should therefore be used.

However, since the flow rate is limited to approx. 2 liters per minute, the Carbonit NFP Premium filter cartridge is only suitable for filter systems that distinguish between filtered water and process water (Sanuno or Vario/DUO with separate fitting for filtered water or 3-way fitting). If you have installed a Carbonit drinking water filter directly in the cold water pipe, i.e. filter all cold water, you need a faster flow. You will find a large number of filter cartridges that combine a membrane for the sieve effect and activated carbon for adsorptive retention and thus ensure faster flow.

In some cases, e.g. B. with low water pressure or high levels of contamination, the use of a combination filter cartridge is usually unavoidable. We would be happy to advise you individually on this.
