Never lime in the water again
Lime filters on the faucet against lime in the water, removing lime, never lime in the water or lime water again, many wish for that. But is that really good?
Removing lime from drinking water is not entirely unproblematic. On the one hand, it is technically not so easy, and on the other hand, the water chemistry changes very strongly. In particular, the pH value quickly drops into the acidic range. The water then loses its pH-neutral character. Lime in the water is not problematic for humans. We certainly do not "calcify" because we drink lime water.
Nevertheless, our technical devices in the household suffer from very lime-rich water. Although something can be done about this without changing the chemical composition of the water, ion exchangers are a good alternative with a lot of lime in the water, i.e., extreme lime water. Our lime filter for the faucet, the SANUNO Kalk Kompakt, combines the advantages of activated carbon filters with an ion exchanger. The unique Carbonit Kalk kompakt filter cartridge also enables partial removal of lime. This keeps the pH value in the neutral range. A beneficial side effect - the included activated carbon block filter additionally removes pollutants and substances that would impair the taste of the water.
Especially natural lime removal with AquaKalko
AquaKalko, on the other hand, uses a ceramic granulate with a specially coded surface to initiate the process of heterogeneous catalysis. A similar process can be observed in nature with mussels and corals. The lime water flows around the AquaKalko granulate. Small seed crystals of tiny size immediately form on the granulate surface. These small crystals also immediately dissolve again to make room for more crystals. The seed crystals floating in the water are carried by the water into all pipes and connected devices. They practically capture the lime in the water and thus no longer adhere anywhere in the treated water. The chemical composition of the water is not changed. Renovation of old installations and boilers is possible within a few months, as existing lime deposits and encrustations are slowly detached and carried away in a gentle process. Chemical-free lime protection is a recognized biotechnology. Since 2009, it has been established in the EU standard EN 1988-20 section 12.7 (Technical rules for drinking water installations) that lime protection devices with seed crystallization are approved for drinking water installations and correspond to the state of the art. Methods based on seed crystallization meet the requirements of the "General Rules of Technology."
