Luisenhaller deep salt

The salt produced at Luisenhall, near Göttingen, comes from the sea. More precisely, from an ocean that once existed here and dried up 250 million years ago. Since humans did not exist back then, they had no chance to contaminate this sea. That makes us very happy and this salt so pure, original, and valuable. And it is left just like that: unadulterated and free from any chemical additives.

Luisenhaller salt / deep salt from the only pan saltworks in Europe:

Luisenhall: A relic from another time. Luisenhall is the last remaining operational pan saltworks in Europe. Over the course of a year, only as much salt is produced there as the big players in this industry manage before their breakfast break. But the salt is not really comparable either. It is extracted as concentrated brine from a depth of 450 meters to the Göttingen daylight. Once at the surface, this brine is heated in huge shallow pans until the salt crystallizes and can be skimmed off. This process is about a thousand years old.
